Working at Danbury Hospital, you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of other people.

Chair of Pathology

Danbury Hospital, located in southwestern Connecticut near the New York border, is seeking a Chair of Pathology to lead our full-service pathology department, which performs nearly two million tests per year. The opening is due to the retirement of Ramon Kranwinkel, MD, who spent more than 40 years at Danbury Hospital and served as Chair of Pathology since 1990.

We are searching for a physician-leader who is well-known within his or her area of expertise, who is board-certified in AP and CP, and who wishes to continue clinical practice along with leadership, management and academic responsibilities. The candidate must demonstrate proven success as a leader in pathology and laboratory medicine, preferably within a multi-hospital system. An academic background, subspecialty training, excellent clinical skills, and an understanding of the business of medicine will set this candidate apart.

Responsibilities will include program and business development; teaching residents; driving research activities; fostering a pro-research environment; and performing clinical activities. The ideal candidate is a visionary whose innovative and entrepreneurial spirit and interpersonal skills will attract and retain top talent to work within a collaborative and productive environment.
